Today's schedule at Next Generation Martial Arts in Thibodaux, LA
4:30pm Pre-k Martial Arts - As always we will continue to work on belt tying (briefly), push up development, and learning the basics of the mount position. Again, please be aware that young children will not get things perfect. At this age we are looking to build good classroom behavior. This will allow us to teach them structure and discipline.
It's important the instructors/teachers are correcting the children, so please refrain from correcting your child during class time. Sit back and enjoy watching your child develop.
5:30pm Kids Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu - Being able to escape
dominant positions is possibly the most important technical skill learned in jiu-jitsu. Things learned while developing this ability are:
*Patience (a lot of it)
*Handling mental and physical stress
*Never let someone hold you down
Today each belt level will learn an escape escape from a bad position. Each of the escapes learned today will be used as long as they continue training.
6:30pm Adult Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu (Gi) - Today we are covering the Knee Split position. This position is dominant passing hub that allows the guard passer the ability to pass to side control, mount, back control, or look for potential submissions. The control developed here is great because it deflects your opponents guard and keeps you to the outside of their legs.
6:30pm Adult MMA - This evening we will be taking over the TKD side of the mat space so we can utilize the wall mats for takedown drilling. But before that, we will be working on our striking drills. We will continue to work these basics striking drills until we feel smooth as a unit.
Please remember to bring:
**** Please note, Adult TKD will be replaced by MMA this evening. Adult TKD students this class is for you as well. ****
